What is Toastmasters?

Toastmasters is a non-profit organization that provides members a safe, supportive environment to learn how to speak in public and grow as leaders. More than four million men and women have benefited from the organization. Why not join us? Let's communicate!

History of Toastmasters

In 1924, Dr. Ralph C. Smedley held the very first meeting in YMCA in Santa Ana, California. He assembled people to form a club in order to practice public speaking and promote sociability. The group was named "Toastmasters". Soon after, people from other areas heard about the club, and started thier own clubs. In Japan, the first club was founded more than 50 years ago, and now we have over 90 clubs in Japan.

How does Toastmasters work?

In a typical Toastmasters club, 20-30 members meet once or twice a month. Each meeting lasts one to two hours, and every member has an opportunity to speak out. Members take roles such as Speaker or Evaluator in turns.
